There’s no denying that entering motherhood brings a whirlwind of daily personal growth and change as you navigate being a new mother. And as the seasons of childhood change, your children will continue to challenge you (in a positive way) to grow and evolve. But we are more than just mothers, and likely desire growth in other areas of our life as well.
Whether it’s the desire to grow in your health, faith, relationships, intellect, finances, or other area you determine necessary, there can often be a disconnect between our desire and action. As a mom, with time already limited, it can feel impossible to find the time. I have found, though, that daily personal growth doesn’t have to require a huge time commitment.
Here are 3 ways I incorporate daily personal growth.
Early Morning Routine
I am a huge advocate for an early morning routine. This was hands-down the biggest game-changer for my mental and physical well-being. I like to give the first-part of my day to Christ. Reading my bible, praying, and sitting in the quiet stillness of the morning has grown my faith and relationship with Christ more than any other habit. It also calms and strengthens me to handle anything that comes my way that day. What it looks like is always evolving, but the constant is that my day starts with time spent with Him.
Audio University
There are so many great podcasts available to grow your skills and knowledge. I try to listen to 1 audio teaching each day. These are great because you can push play while on a walk, getting ready, doing your chores, driving in the car, or prepping dinner. Understand interruptions will come (you’re a mom) and you may not finish the whole episode in one sitting, but it’s a great resource for growing. I encourage you to find teachings that align with areas you want to grow personally, not simply listening for entertainment sake.
Daily Reading
I do my best to schedule 20 minutes each day for reading a personal growth and development book. While the time each day may change, it always comes after lunch when I take a rest to reset for the afternoon. This has worked best for me. Find a part of your daily routine that lends itself well to some downtime for reading.
So there you have it. 3 simple ways you can incorporate some daily personal growth time into your busy day is by:
- Establishing a morning routine
- Incorporating an audio teaching into established routines and habits
- Setting aside some time each day to read a personal growth and development book
Last, make sure you’re taking action on what you are learning. You won’t be perfect, and that’s okay. Just keep moving forward and growing towards your best self.
